Lemony Snicket The Reptile Room
This story is about three orphan children with a lot of money. But there money is their biggest weakness for two reasons. One they were not old enough to inherit it and second there were a lot of people who wanted to get that money with the wrong intentions and wrong ways of getting the money. This is the second installement in this very miserable story. This time they were going to be sent to their real uncle Monty and he was in to all kinds of Reptiles. Uncle Monty was going for a vacation. The kids were also going. One day at their uncle’s house they found one very strange reptile. Uncle Monty told them that it was of a very rare species and it wouldn’t harm even a fly. But before they leave guess what goes wrong, uncle Monty dies. You want to know who did it. You’re going to have to read the book to get the answer for this question. I could relate to this because this makes me think about how lucky I am to have my parents and a family. I have never had an experiences like this happen to me.

Jip His Story

Author: Katherine Paterson

Jip is a teenage kid who is living on a town’s poor farm. No one in the town knows where Jip really came from. The story of Jip where he came from is that he fell of a gypsy wagon out on the West Hill road and I guess no one came back for him. He got a long very well with the animals. Suddenly one day, a lunatic named Putnam Nelson was sent to the poor farms. Jip knows that Putnam is a really wise man also has scary and crazy spells. The other thing is that Putnam doesn’t know what his doing. Suddenly Jip finds out that his part black and the detectives sent him back to the slave farm. Jip and Putnam used the Underground Railroad to get to the slave farm.

This story relates to my life is that Jip does a lot of chores and I use to do chores before I came to Canada. But it was actually fun. Jip’s life is harder than our lives right now because he lived in a larger situation as in he had to do more chores and worked harder. What made me interested in reading this book is that is a very nice book and it brings us back to how life was back in the old times where they were people who couldn’t afford to buy anything and looking for food to survive. That’s why I like this book.

Just Wacky

This book has a bunch of stories about a kid named Andy who’s always causing trouble and finding funny ways to get out of them. This book has 9 stories. One about him and his dad. They get locked out of there home naked and the other key is at the fathers work. In order for no one to recognize them, they cover themselves with mud and hop across the fence of there neighbors back yards, to get to work. Will they make it? Read it and find out! Another story in this book is a poem about Andy jumping on his bed. Here is a part of it. See me jump. See me run. See me hop. It is fun. See me jump. On my bed. I jump so high I bump my head. It’s a funny book with little pictures that have a funny caption to go with it. If you like to laugh, you would love this book and the other ones in the series too.

Me and the Blondes

By: Theresa Toten

This is the story of Sophie Kandinsky. Ever since her dad went to jail, she has spent 6 years trying to keep it a secret, because whenever someone finds out about it, she has to move away because people think she is a criminal too. Her dad isn't really the criminal, but he was accused and doesn't have any proof to prove himself innocent. She lives with her mother, who is 'larger-than-life', eccentric, and Bulgarian. This time, she moves to a town where the most popular girls are the Blondes, and she has made a plan that she will locate them at her new school and become friends with them. She thinks that if she does, people won't find out what the truth really is. But someone does: Madison, one of the girls in the Blondes. Can Sophie explain everything to Madison and make her keep it a secret, or will she have to move away once again?

I really liked this book. It keeps you guessing what will happen next. I would describe Sophie as someone who just wants to live a normal life, and someone who has a bit of a hard time trusting people (like me!) because of all the things and times she has gone through in the past. The part about Sophie having to keep moving reminded me of what I saw in the movie 'The Perfect Man', in which whenever Holly's single mom got dumped by her boyfriends, she and her family had to move out of the neighbourhood. There was also a bit of a cliffhanger in the end, but it's a good one though. When I reached the end of the book, I wondered what happened next with her. The plot also kind of twists in the middle, so it will sort of move you. So I recommend this book. You'll find it at the school library! (:

Book Review By: Shazia

*Shazia says: I liked Theebika's and Rehan's reviews because I have read all the books in the series and very unexpected things happen along the way of the Baudelaires. I really liked Koochai's review because she wrote about a book that has suspense and mystery in it, something I like. I also liked the book Porya wrote about because one of my favourite TV shows, "What's With Andy?", is based on those books, so I'd like to read those. I also want to read Tooba's book because it sounds interesting and I really wanna know if the brothers will separate or not. (:

The Bad Beginning is written by Lemony Snicket.  This book is the first book from the Series of Unfortunate Events.  My opinion of The Bad Beginning is that it's an extremely well written book.  I felt sad when terrible things happened in the story and have gone on to read the second book in the series.  You may go on to read all twelve!

Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are the children of Mr. and Mrs. Baudelaire.  Violet is the eldest child and she is fourteen years old.  Klaus is the second child and is twelve years old.  He is very intelligent.  Sunny is the youngest child.  She is a baby who loves to chew on things with her sharp teeth.  The Baudelaires live in a big mansion.  One day Mr. and Mrs. Baudelaire give their children permission to go to Briny Beach while they make dinner.   Unfortunately the house catches on fire and Mr. and Mrs. Baudelaire are killed.  A family friend named Mr. Poe knows of a man named Count Olaf who is related to the Baudelaire children and doesn't mind taking care of them.  However, the problem is Count Olaf doesn't really care about the kids, but he cares about their money.

Find out what happens to Count Olaf and the Baudelaires by reading this wonderful book.  I give this book four stars out of five!

   Castle in the Air

This book is about a boy named Abdullah who falls in love with a princess named Flower-in-the-Night, who mistakens Abdullah for a girl. When she gets kidnapped by a djinn, he leaves his village behind to rescue her with his magic carpet. He defeats a group of bandits and aquires a magic yet stubborn genie, who grants him a wish a day. He also meets an old solider in his quest. This book is clever, witty, and very funny! But if you have not read the first book or watched Howls Moving Castle, by the middle, you will be very lost because thats when it starts to become a sequel. The end is the best part becase it connects every part of the story and solves the mysteries of the book. This is an awesome book.

 The Sky Is Falling
by:Kit Pearson

The book takes place during the time of 1940 where the 2nd world war has been unleashed. Norah and her little brother Gavin are being sent to Canada as war guests to seek shelter and protection from the war. But Norah doesn’t want to leave England to go to an unfamiliar country where she won’t know anyone and won’t be able to experience the thrill of the war. Norah is already miserable when she arrives in Canada when things just get worse for her. For example, her Canadian guardian favours Gavin, she has no friends at school, and homesickness increases inside her. But as Norah is adjusting into her new home, she finds her own responsibilities and a new hope for her which helps her accept her surroundings and that is what makes the gentle story of The Sky Is Falling. This is an astonishing book that will really make you feel and understand the main character’s thoughts. It relates to me because I had sometimes also felt the same Norah did. For me, I would rate this book a 9.5/10. It is an awesome book and I recommend everyone to read it.

The Lights Go On Again
By: Kit Pearson

Norah has faced so many tough times in her life, when she and her brother Gavin, had to move to Canada because of World War 2. This book is the third sequel to the War Guest Trilogy. It takes place in Toronto, Ontario in the Olgivies household. Norah and Gavin are finally getting used to the family, things are slowly getting back to normal, and the war is ending soon. Now Norah is 16 and her brother is 11. Their parents pass away in England, due to a bomb explosion. Norah finds out that since her parents where now dead, her grandfather suggested that they go back to England and live with her sister and brother in law. Norah is glad that she can go back to her country but Gavin on the other hand does not feel the same way. He likes living in Canada with the Olgivies. Where he thinks he is safe. Norah is astonished when she hears what Gavin has to say about going back.

Then finally Gavin picks the right path for him and thus this marvelous, adventurous book ends. What path does Gavin pick? Does he stay or go? Read the book and find out. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventures and likes to get lost in books. I give this book a final rating of 9.5/10 because it rocks and you actually feel like you are in the book and you are Norah or Gavin that is how well the story and setting was expressed.

Comments By Tooba: I like Rehan's Review and Theebika's Review. I like the story and I think because Lemony Snicket is one of my favorite authors and A Series of Unfortunate events is one of my favorite books. I think I will read these books because I like mysteries and cliffhangers. Speaking of cliffhangers I also like Shazia's Review and I would definitely want to read the book!
